22 year old domestic worker found dead in his boss' swimming pool

22 year old Onyeka Kingley Raphael (pictured above) was found dead in the bottom of a swimming pool in the home he worked as a domestic help. His body was removed early Saturday morning from a house on Babatunde Asimi Street, Ogudu GRA.

His family, suspecting foul play, has petitioned the police, asking for a thorough investigation because when Kingsley's body was removed by policemen from Ogudu police station, eye witnesses said there were no visible injuries on his body except a twisted neck, suggesting that the domestic worker may have been strangled before being dumped in the pool.

What the family also found odd was that the dinner Kingsley made for himself the night before was still on the kitchen table, with his cap near it, and also the fact that the security man who was home at the time of the incident said he didn't see or hear anything. The family also claimed that Kingsley and his boss, a retired accountant named Tunde Williams had a misunderstand a month earlier which almost got Kingsley fired. Kingsley had wanted to leave his job but his elder had begged him to stay because he needed the money for school.

The police promised Kingley's family that an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death and told reporters that a thorough investigation will be carried out. The police also mentioned that Mr Williams was so far 'not cooperating with the police'

Nigerian sex trafficker used 'juju' to terrorise young orphans he raped after smuggling them into UK

A Nigerian smuggler who used witchcraft rituals to force children to work as sex slaves was jailed for 20 years on October 28th

Osezua Osolase, 42, tricked poverty-stricken Nigerian orphans into travelling to the UK with the promise of a better life. But the young victims were raped, sexually abused and subjected to voodoo-style rituals by a child trafficking ring.

Osolase, the linchpin of a multi-million pound global sex trafficking ring, used 'juju' magic to control his victims. He told the teenage girls they would die or never bear children if they tried to escape or revealed what had happened to them.

Detectives discovered evidence that at least 28 victims were smuggled in and out of Britain over a 14-month period, earning him up to £1.5million.

Kaduna Bombing: Christian Mobs Target Neighbourhood Muslims

Two suicide bombers drove vehicles packed with explosives into a Catholic church in Kaduna  today, killing and wounding several, witnesses said. The bombers both managed to get inside the packed St Rita's church, in volatile ethnically and religiously mixed Kaduna, said witness Linus Lighthouse, who survived the blasts.

UPDATES: Following the attack on the Catholic church in Kaduna, Christian mobs with machetes and sticks have taken to the streets of the city targeting people they suspect to be Muslims.

A French news agency reporter said he saw mobs targeting people who they believed to be Muslims in the neighbourhood of the church.
According to a spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, a rescue vehicle was also attacked in the violence after the bombing.
A suicide bomber had earlier slammed a car bomb into St. Rita Catholic Church in Malali, Kaduna during services, killing at least three people, officials said.
A rescue official said “At least three people are confirmed dead.” He added that the death toll included the suspected attacker and that there were a number of injuries.
The neighbourhood shook as the bomb blast has brought up fears of a fresh outbreak of reprisal attacks and clashes between Christians and Muslims.
A spokesman for Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency said it had received reports of a bomb blast in the area of a Catholic church and rushed rescuers to the scene.
“They were talking about a bomb explosion,” said Yushau Shuaib of the reports, while adding that his agency was however seeking to confirm details.
“A number of casualties evacuated to hospitals. The incident was suspected to be triggered by a suicide bomber in a car …”
Residents fear clashes breaking out after the blast that shook the area, between Christians and Muslims, as some say there were reported clashes already.
“There was a loud explosion and I could see smoke on the horizon,” one resident said. Another resident also reported hearing the blast.
Attack by Boko Haram in northern and central Nigeria has led to more than 2,800 deaths since 2009. President Goodluck Jonathan has said the group is seeking to incite a religious crisis in Nigeria.
Nigerians are frustrated with increasing insecurity in the country as insurgency attacks have been happening too often. Worse still, security forces’ inability to stop Boko Haram attacks has increased fears that the violence may continue.

Brazilian student sells her virginity online for charity

Catarina Migliorini, a 20-year-old Brazilian college student who wants to make a "positive impact on the world," has found a curious way of doing it: Auctioning her virginity online. The winning bid of $780,000 was made by a Japanese man named Natsu, and Migliorini will reportedly donate the bulk of the money to a Brazilian initiative that builds homes for poverty stricken families in her home state in Southern Brazil.

This past month, people from all over the world bid on her chastity, from Brazilians, Americans, and Australians - but Natsu's bid of $780,000 ultimately prevailed on Oct. 24.

Catarina must then 'prove' her chastity by subjecting herself to a rigorous gynecological examination, providing the winning bidder, Natsu, with medical evidence of her virginity. Natsu will then be tested for STDs after which they will have sex in international air space aboard a flight from Australia to the U.S. to avoid local prostitution charges. Sex toys are forbidden, but a condom is compulsory

Catarina says she should not be confused with a professional sex worker. "If you only do it once in your life then you are not a prostitute. Just like if you take one amazing photograph it does not automatically make you a photographer."

I sincerely don't know if this is something to be applauded or be ashamed of. She has good intentions, but selling your body? What do you guys think?

Young man found dead in Arik Air's undercarriage

The dead body of a young Nigerian man was discovered yesterday Friday October 26th in the wheel well, the undercarriage compartment of an Arik Air aircraft, after it returned from a flight to New York, United States.

One of the airline’s officials who spoke to ThisDay said the deceased might have hidden himself in the wheel well for days and was crushed to death while the flight was airborne to the JF Kennedy Airport, New York, from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The official who spoke to THISDAY said the dead body was found during a check on the aircraft panel as it was being prepared for another flight and that the undercarriage compartment of the Airbus A340-500 is big enough to accommodate a person, besides the space for the tyres.

"He probably might have hidden himself there some days and died while the aircraft was on its way to New York. We found him when we were doing checks on the panel; the aircraft probably came back with him dead," the official said.

The source said that it is out of ignorance that people hide in the wheel well and plan to stowaway because "the compartment is not pressurised like the cabin of an aircraft and it is not heated, so survival is rare even if the person is not crushed by the wheels."

Pilots and aeronautical engineers familiar with the wheel well compartment said it is roomy enough to contain a human being, but it is highly unlikely that any one who hid there would come out alive after a flight that took several hours due to lack of oxygen.

The official attributed the incident to porous security at the airport, noting that "if having access to the airside is stringently prohibited, anybody that is not an official of airlines, handling companies and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria would not gain access to the tarmac."

Another source said: "The security at the airport is very bad and that explains why somebody can gain access to the airside and inside the aircraft and no one will know.

Security around the cargo area is even worse and from there anybody can take anything into the tarmac. Now, it is a human being that is smuggled in; one day a dangerous object will be smuggled in."

THISDAY investigations revealed that stowaways connive with ground handling companies to access the airside and the wheel well.

"The handling company workers and the security operatives indulge in a lot of illicit activities at the airport and over the years there have been efforts to put a check on such excesses but every effort has so far failed," said another source.

Medview airline set for domestic services in Nigeria

A new domestic carrier, Med-View Airlines, is set to commence scheduled flights soon as it has acquired two Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
The managing director of the airline, Mr. Munir Bankole, who disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos at the weekend, said the carrier would adhere strictly to safety standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) adding that it was currently going through the last stage of certification by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
He said the airline which was famous for hajj operations would operate Lagos-Abuja and Lagos-Port Harcourt routes initially while the Yola, Maiduguri and Kano routes would be added later.
Bankole, who also inspected the airline’s offices at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 further said the carrier had already signed a maintenance agreement with a foreign firm, Mytechnic, which is reputable for the maintenance of all types of aircraft.
“As you can see, we are here to inspect the offices for the commencement of our daily flight operations to some airports in the next couple of weeks. We have undergone the necessary inspections as stipulated by NCAA, but I can’t tell you categorically when we will start, but we are starting very soon.
“We have been in the industry for about 30 years. So, we have always been talking about aviation. We found out that there is a need for us to make our contribution to the domestic market and that is why we believe we are coming in to give our best”, he said.

Teacher beats 12 year old student to death in Anambra State

A 12-year-old student of a secondary school in Awka, Anambra State, Miss Chidimma Ukachukwu, has died after she was allegedly flogged by her teacher for failing to do her homework.

A reliable source in the school told the News Agency of Nigeria in Awka on Tuesday that the girl died on Thursday last week after she was flogged. The source explained that the girl fainted after being flogged severally by a female teacher and was subsequently rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where she died.

The source also told NAN that the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Uju Okeke, then ordered the closure of the school as a result of the incident.

A NAN correspondent, who visited the girl’s family home, soon after she was buried on Thursday in Awka, reports that the family was in grief.

The girl’s father, Mr. Simeon Ukachukwu, confirmed the incident, saying it was a sad development. He added that it was an act of God.

But when Okeke was contacted, she denied ordering the closure of the school and said that the school was on midterm break.

NAN investigation, however, revealed that schools in the state were not on midterm break.
This fact was corroborated by an official of the Nigerian Union of Teachers in Akwa South Local Government Area.

The Chairperson of the union in the local government, Miss Buife Ndigwe, told NAN that primary and secondary schools in the state would go on midterm break next week.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Mr. Ralph Uzoigwe, said that the matter had not been reported to the police, but promised that it would be investigated.

Minister of Aviation responds to "bomb scare on arik air flight"

According to reports, a man attempted to blow up an Arik Air plane that landed at the Abuja Airport from Maiduguri this afternoon. The report claimed that the man stood up inside the plane and told all the passengers to pray, that he was going to blow up the plane.

The Minister of Aviation has debunked the claim and even issued a statement. Which Stated....

"Alleged Bomb on Arik Flight a Hoax- Ministry.

The rumour making the rounds of a bomb scare on an Arik Airline flight from Maiduguri to Abuja is absolutely false. In fact, it is a hoax as there is no iota of truth whatsoever in this wicked rumor."

A passenger, Aminu Galadima, an indigene of Minna, Niger state boarded a Maiduguri - Abuja bound Arik Air aircraft with registration number 5N MJE after going through all mandatory security screening. Nothing incriminating, no explosives or weapons whatsoever were found on him.

However, mid air the passenger began to act strangely, loudly screaming ''God is Great". Fellow passengers, alarmed by this behaviour rushed to apprehend him. A thorough search by fellow passengers and crew members revealed nothing dangerous on him. The pilot immediately radioed Air Traffic Control and airport security operatives.

The plane landed safely at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at exactly 1253 hrs and the suspect handed over to the SSS at about 1445 hrs where he is currently being interrogated.

We wish to reassure the flying public of the continued focus of the Federal Ministry of Aviation on the safety and security of the nation's airspace, while cautioning fellow Nigerians on the spreading of dangerous rumours. These rumours do not help to make our airspace either safer or more secure.

Joe Obi
SA (Media) to Aviation Minister."

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha punches governor of Anambra, Obi's aide over seat

Governor Rochas Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on Saturday punched a protocol officer who refused to allow him sit on a chair reserved for the Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, at the 80th birthday celebration of former vice president, Chief Alex Ekwueme, in Enugu.

The incident occurred 20 minutes before most of the invited guests arrived.

SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the seater was reserved for the host Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime and Obi. The Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, represented Chime who is still out of the country.

The protocol officer, Mr. Ifeanyi Onukuba, who works with Obi, was shocked at Okorocha’s action and before he could recover from it, a police officer attached to the Bomb Disposal Unit in Anambra State, Mr. Felix Alumona, pushed Okorocha when he was removing the tag bearing Obi’s name from the seat.
Our correspondent observed that Okorocha’s Aide de Camp, Gabriel Onu, immediately pounced on Alumona, hitting and tearing his uniform, while other security details attached to the Imo governor joined in the scuffle.

Sensing that the matter was beginning to attract people, Okorocha quickly waded in, saying, “Hey, please stop the fight! Let us not fight over an ordinary seat. I will share the seat with Peter Obi.”
Minutes after the fracas, Okorocha’s aides grumbled saying, “Why is it that anywhere we go, they always reserve a special seat for Obi. Is Okorocha not the leader of Ndigbo?”

When Obi arrived, he squeezed himself in the couch, sitting between Onyebuchi and Okorocha.

My school calendar

Our American University of Nigeria Fall 2012 calendar has been bothering me. How difficult is it to make our fall break fall within the same period as the Eid break? Our fall break started yesterday, wednesday 17th October and ends sunday 21st october.

Sallah is probably on the 25th of October, 4days in between. Why couldn't they have pushed the break to start on the 22nd and end 28th? Who starts a holiday on wednesday anyway?

If the break were further apart it would be understandable but attending 3 days of class and then the Eid public holiday celebration, makes it unreasonable.

The return of Nigeria's first Lady

Dame Patience Jonathan returned to Nigeria from Germany yesterday afternoon. The presidential jet which conveyed her touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about four pm.

The First Lady who came back into the country from her 2-months medical trip has denied undergoing cosmetic surgery in Germany. When asked by reporters at the airport tarmac if that was what she went to Germany for, Patience Jonathan vehemently denied it. Her answer on STV 10 0'clock news yesterday stated, in her exact words

"God knows I have never been to that hospital. I don't even know where that hospital is. I do not have terminal illness, or rather any cosmetic surgery, more or less tummy-tuck. My husband loves me who I am and I am pleased with how God created me. I cannot add but the same time I will use this opportunity to thank my beloved husband and my children and my staff in general and all Nigerians. The men on the street for standing behind me during my trial time. But God has given me a second chance to come and work with the women of Nigeria, the children and the less privileged and the needy. I have come to serve Nigerians"

Chris Brown cuts Karrueche completely out of his life

According to Hollywood Life, Chris Brown has completely cut Karrueche Tran out of his life...
From Hollywood Life

Our source tells us that Karrueche and Chris have only spoken so they can facilitate her move out of his place, a move that is nearly over.
“…he don’t f**k with her like that right now and [he's] not [talking] with her either – other than set up times for her to come get her s**t but that was last week. She still got a few things at the crib, but a lot of her s**t [is] already out,” our source says.
Haha! Funny gangster source though...

Police shoot sales girl dead, injure 3 others

A 20-year old sales girl identified simply as Lucy, was on Friday shot dead by policemen in the Apo area of Abuja. The girl was hit in the chest by bullets fired into a photography shop where she worked as a sales girl. Three other people sustained gunshot injuries when policemen from the FCT Police Command fired bullets indiscriminately in an attempt to enforce the demolition order of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council.

The policemen had stormed the area around 7 am with officials of Development Control Department, who had come to demolish illegal structures. But residents and indigenes, who felt that the government had no right to demolish their houses when they were yet to be resettled, resisted the operation.

They claimed that the case was still in court and that their leaders had advised them to continue to live in the area pending the determination of the suit. As the policemen shot indiscriminately to control the residents, bullets penetrated into one of the shops and Lucy was hit in the chest. She was rushed to Garki Hospital, but she was confirmed dead on arrival. Her body has been deposited in the mortuary. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, met the House of Representatives representing

AMAC/Bwari constituency of the FCT, Zephaniah Jisalo, at the hospital when he visited. Inalegwu, who was in tears, assured the lawmaker that the case would be investigated. “We are not sure what took our men there or what led to the shooting, it’s still a matter for investigation,” he said. Emeka Ani, owner of the photo shop, where the deceased worked, said that his sales boy also sustained gunshot injuries during the incident. He said, “From morning, the police surrounded our area. They said they came for demolition. All of a sudden, they started shooting sporadically. They shot into my shop and killed my sales girl. My boy also sustained injuries. Lucy has been with me for about one month. Her sister brought her for me from Cross River.” The National Coordinator, Greater Gbyagi Initiative, Mr. Gimba Baiza, described the incident as wicked.

2 Nigerian students to die by "firing squad" for armed robbery

Please read the story below and tell us if you think these students' crime deserve the firing squad sentence!
Justice Theresa Igoche of the Makurdi High Court, on Tuesday sentenced two students, Vershima Kaachi and Akaazua Akpen, to death by firing squad for armed robbery.
The convicts were arrested on the eve of Christmas in 2007 for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, contrary to Sections 5(b) and 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.
Politicians steal billions and get a slap on the wrist. *tears for our people*

In his testimony, the victim of the offence, Jonathan Usenge, told the court that five armed men came to his house, attacked and robbed him of some valuable items on that day.

He stated that the robbers collected his Nokia 1600 phone valued N12,700.00, two torch lights valued N350.00 and a sum of N16,500.

He said the convicts were armed with guns and a hacksaw, and that the clothes they wore on the day of the robbery, his stolen phone and the hacksaw were recovered from them during police investigation.
The prosecution called three witnesses while the accused persons testified for themselves and also called three witnesses.

In his submission, counsel to the convicts, Mr Cletus Ujah, argued that the prosecuting counsel had not proved the allegation against his clients beyond reasonable doubt.

Ujah insisted that the victim was inconsistent in his testimony, arguing that the prosecution's evidence could not be said to be overwhelming to nail his clients.

He further argued that the prosecution failed to tender the hacksaw claimed to have been recovered from his clients before the court which, he said, amounted to withholding evidence.

But the prosecuting counsel, Mr Obande Idikwu, argued that the prosecution had made a case to warrant the conviction of the accused persons.

Idikwu submitted that from the evidence, it could be deduced that there was an agreement to commit an illegal act, which was pursued to a logical conclusion.
Delivering judgment, Igoche held that the prosecution had proved its case against the convicts and found them guilty as charged.

In an allocutus, Ujah pleaded for leniency for the accused persons, pointing out that they were each the only sons of their parents and young boys with a promising future ahead of them, noting that they had no records of previous conviction and were looking very remorseful, and urged the court to temper justice with mercy.
But the judge said the punishment prescribed for offenders under Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Act was death by either hanging or firing squad, pointing out that it was subject to the governor's discretion.

Meanwhile, I hear Romney is leading Obama in many states... though Obama so far has swing state strength. Two more presidential debates before the November elections and I hope Obama comes out swinging this time...
