Lagos State Governor refuses chieftaincy title

Governor Fashola politely turned a chieftaincy title from the Oniru of Iru Land, Oba Abiodun Idowu Oniru, at the monarch's 75th birthday and 18th year coronation anniversary, which took place on  Saturday, 8th of September. The Lagos state governor said he couldn't accept any titles at this time so he could focus on his job as a governor.

He said;
“Kabiyesi and his chiefs can continue to lead us, let them deal with all those traditional and chieftancy issues. At the appropriate time, we will come and join them, but for now, leave us in our suits, booths, overalls and helmets, because this agbada is not good for clearing refuse and tarring the roads.”
